Ron Finley: A guerilla gardener in South Central LA 23

GFERon Finley plants vegetable gardens in South Central LA — in abandoned lots, traffic medians, along the curbs. Why? For fun, for defiance, for beauty and to offer some alternative to fast food in a community where “the drive-thrus are killing more people than the drive-bys.”

  2. Your awesome and real and that is what this country damn well needs I live in Alabama and in a city but we use planters and even took an old fridge and made a compost pit from it . U can use so many things to grow food in the problem is getting people interested in doing it ๐Ÿ™‚ Go back to old school ways and can and share just like you are and like u said Plant some shit ๐Ÿ™‚

    • at this moment I own 2.5 acres of land,in quebec canada, but because of an arm injury, i can’t garden like i love anymore…i am thinking of selling my land go somewhere smaller where i can handle the land nad enjoy it as much as I used too

The lands need to be worked and used like mother earth wants too, for the good of all kind
god bless and keep your good work ๐Ÿ™‚

      • You should let the people in your community garden your land for free. No work for you and the land gets to do what is what mean to do. Just a thought from a fellow Canadian ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Taught school for 35 years. The most motivating reward I could offer to boys – in April and May when they want to be outside – was helping in the garden and flower beds around the school. The most opositional kids were the best at it. GET A CLUE PEOPLE! Kids love to grow things.

  4. Biggest smile on my face at your wisdom, humor & energy. You are an inspiration in every sense of the word, Mr. Finley. Keep the faith & have courage always, as far as possible sir; for many of us have at least some of your experiences & are firmly on your side for Thought & Doing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I have watched this video about 10 times now, i’m super pumped up for the hot weather here in NC. I have been planning how i’m going to turn my 3 families back yard into food gardens! I have the money and the drive to do it. I don’t see anything but mother nature her stuff stopping me.

  6. Thanks for the different tips discussed on this web site. I have realized that many insurance providers offer shoppers generous discount rates if they elect to insure several cars with them. A significant number of households own several automobiles these days, particularly those with older teenage young children still dwelling at home, and the savings upon policies could soon begin. So it pays off to look for a great deal.

  7. Yes sir! I love your efforts – this is such a wonderful way to alleviate hunger, urban blight, carbon emissions, obesity, diabetes… you name it! Please keep doing what you are doing, and thank you!

  8. I love the idea. But has anyone thought about the water run off from the streets being absorbed into the garden. I know the earth filters some things out but how much??
